Yarn Doll!

30 min, easy, all ages

These little dolls are so simple and satisfying to make, you'll have a yarn family in no time! It's a perfect use for all your bits of leftover yarn and scraps.

Supplies:

  • yarn, any kind
  • book - standard paperback works well, but you can use any size
  • pipe cleaner, twist ties or extra yarn
  • scissors
  • optional - ribbon, googly eyes, buttons, fabric scraps, glue

Paper Plate Weaving!

30 min, easy, all ages

Perfect for fall, you'll learn a simple weaving technique that even the youngest crafter can make independently. Natural embellishments such as colorful leaves and mossy sticks make the weaving extra special.

Supplies:

  • paper plate, any size or color
  • yarn - a variety of colors and textures is nice
  • scissors
  • optional - ribbon, roving, natural materials such as leaves, hole punch

Baa Baa Softie Sheep!

1 hour, intermediate (some sewing experience required), younger children with adults

Stitch up a cuddly sheep of your very own. Using an outgrown sweater and felt, young sewists will learn how to make a softie sheep from start to finish. The perfect NYS Sheep & Wool Festival souvenir!

Supplies:

  • felt, old sweater, cotton fabric
  • felt for legs and face
  • scissors
  • *sewing supplies - needle, thread, threader, straight pins, chalk or marking pen
  • stuffing - polyfil, fabric scraps
