This class will teach you how to weave straps for bags, belts or trims using a mini heddle and modern backstrap stand. We will be weaving using a table stand to weave with a mini heddle using a small shuttle and shed stick.
This is a fun way to explore both ancient rigid heddle or tape weaving and backstrap looming while making a small project. This is a wonderful way to make straps without the need for harnessing yourself in or a tape box.
The tools in this kit are perfect for moving into a harness later on. The Kit includes a unique sustainable wood heddle,a mini shuttle, shed stick, table stand, clips and fiber (everything you need to make a strap up to 1.5 feet in legnth).
Backstrap looms are an ancient form of weaving using your body as the loom. Box weaving or tape looms date back to the early 19th century found throughout Europe, the rigid heddles being attributed to the Sami in Norway. Our tools are modern fusion taking from all of these traditions and cultures.
