Name
What's Your Type? A Framework for Understanding Wool and Breeds
Date
Thursday, October 15, 2020
Time
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (EDT)
Description

A one hour Lecture/demo for fiber enthusiasts to think about wool and learn what they like or might like to try. With literally hundreds of sheep breeds, who can memorize each of them and their fleece characteristics? One way to make it easier is to group fleece into categories according to type. When confronted with a breed you don't have experience with, knowing which type it is gives you a solid platform to begin to explore from. We'll discuss five types of sheep wool: Medium, Long, Primitive (or double coated), Fine and Down type. What do we mean by each and what does the type tell you about the wool? Why does that matter? Find out the answers and bring your questions!
